Queen of the bath!

18 Jan
Hello hello!

I’ve done it! I have mastered the bath. With almost 3 years of only having showers, our new house has given me the possibility to bathe in a bath of luxury.

It has been a bit of trial and error and I have now discovered, and mastered, my perfect bath.

20140118-235432.jpg

Ingredients
– Face Mask. My weapon of choice is Lush’s Cupcake. Yummy!
– Bath Melt or Bomb. I prefer the melt – it leaves me all smooth and luscious and oily in a good way.
– Lip scrub. I either use my Mecca scrub or my Lush popcorn scrub. The second option is tasty.
– Heavy duty lip balm. I use Dr. Lipp’s Nipple Balm
– Face Wash. Currently I am using St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Scrub. Loving this!
– Moisturiser. Of course.
– Candles. Many many candles.
– A good relaxing playlist. My choice at the moment is the Parenthood Season 2 soundtrack.

Step 1. Get your stuff together and ready, start running that hot bath
Light your candles – I like to turn the bathroom lights out and sit in the ambience of the flame.
I also like to have everything in its place. Once I am in the bath, there should be no reason for me to bend, move or lift myself out of the water. My tipto having a damn comfortable bath is investing in a bath pillow. Not one of those blow up ones, a squishy one. I picked mine up from Spotlight for $9.
Turn on taps. Let that baby fill!

Step 2. Put on your face mask and start your music
If you have just washed your hair I suggest putting it up and pinning it so your hair is not on your face. Apply liberally and let your face tighten, cleanse, relax.

Step 3. Melt the bath melt, melt yourself.
It is time to indulge my friends. Put your bath melt in and sit. This is the best part – really let yourself relax.

Step 4. Cleanse
Once you have woken from your bathy slumber, it is time to wash off your face mask. Use a flannel, use your hands, just wash it off however feels best for you.
Follow up with your normal cleanser and wash.

Step 5. Dry off and scrub
The reason I decide to do my lip scrub after the bath is because once you have put your lip balm on, you do not want to put your face under hot soapy water. Trust me. From experience, it is not good.

Step 6. Moisturise
Moisturise your face, your body, your whatever you wants.
Make sure you moisturise your face, neck AND shoulders. We want to keep our skin looking and feeling young!

That is it. It shouldn’t be much work, it should be simple and relaxing. Once you are out, you should feel like sleeping. As I do now.
I have had my masterful bath and I’m ready for a good nights sleep. I just have to get James off of the computer.

Enjoy!

What’s in my bag?

6 Jan
Hello hello!

Happy New Year you beautiful people!! How amazing is 2014 going to be? Uhh, freaking amazing!

I can officially say I’m getting married this year.. Slightly terrifying. In a good way, of course. Really, it is only 4 months away… Writing it seems much more real than just saying it. 2013 will be hard to top, but I think 2014 will give it a damn good run for its money.

A belated Merry Whatever you celebrate 🙂 were you lavished in family, food and presents? James definitely made me feel like all my dreams could come true. Other than my beautiful bag (that James picked, may I add) I got some gorgeous Essie nail polishes, chocolate and a Camp Takota pack which will be arriving soon.

Back to the bag. My oh so fabulous bag. Brand – Ooh La La.

20140106-204411.jpg

20140106-204419.jpg

I think it may look fuller than it is. Or maybe not. Shall we start with the most important pouch in my bag?

20140106-221835.jpg

My makeup pouch. This gorgeous little dotty thing was from Daiso. If you’re unsure of what Daiso is, I feel sorry for you. Daiso is a cute little Japanese shop where everything is $2.80. EVERYTHING. I mainly keep my essential makeup items, bits and pieces and lady things in here. My lip products rotate and if I know I’m going out or need to look extra pretty, I chuck in an eyeliner, eyeshadow and mascara.

Next is my essentials pack.

20140106-222307.jpg

Tablets, tissues, nail file, bobby pins. If ever there is an issue, it’s fixed with a tissue. Or a bobby pin. And if that doesn’t work, pain killers will stop the brain hurt.

My budget book and diary.

20140106-222705.jpg

Part of my New Years resolution is to learn how to budget/save money/not be broke. I saw this at Kikki K a while ago and lost it up until a couple of weeks ago.
My diary is by Cath Kidston. I bought this from a cute little shop up in Olinda, Dandenong Mountains. It is so sweet and the inside is coloured and floral and so damn adorable. Cath Kidston is fast becoming a favourite designer of mine.

This brings me on to my purse, not that it has money, but it has my Medicare card and Drivers License which are important?

20140106-223356.jpg

20140106-223403.jpg

Not two months ago, I wasn’t really sure about this purse. I got it as a present from my future-4-month-away-mother-in-law about a year ago, alongside a great bathroom bag. It really grew on me, I actually really love it. Downside is I can’t fit all my store cars, for some reason I have a lot of them.

This is why I have converted my Estée Lauder mini mascara pouch into my store card holder!

20140106-223803.jpg

I promise you, I do not have OCD but when I’m on an organisation fix, I really get my fix on.

These are the last tidbits in my bag, most self explanatory. I should mention the little elephant coin purse (a gift from Thailand) is used for my earphones. Perfect size. Also, the sunglasses are not Gucci, the Gucci pair are in my wardrobe. These were $20 and I love them a lot.

20140106-224423.jpg

20140106-224433.jpg

20140106-224445.jpg
(I can’t actually figure out if this is a fox or badger, but it’s cute and super useful!)

20140106-224535.jpg

So that is it. That’s my whole entire bag fillings. Sweet like pie. What’s in your bag?

Talk soon!

December goodies

21 Dec
Hello hello!!

Can you believe that in just 4 sleeps it will be Christmas? It is such a beautiful time of year. Other then the oh so glorious presents, people are generally happier. And the food, don’t even get me started on the food.

This year James and I are going to his Grandma’s house for Christmas lunch. His parents come down from Canberra and his Uncle from Melbourne drives up as well. They’re such a caring family, they have really made me feel like one of the them. Anyway, enough mushy stuff, onto the haul.

20131221-204817.jpg

In one of my recent pre-Christmas hauls, I picked up a gorgeous slightly shimmery mauve colour eyeshadow by Maybelline. It is a part of their MNY range. It has become my go to Christmas look. It is just so beautiful. It has a gold shimmer through the red that makes it completely wearable for work and play. I did have one similar to this from Covergirl or Max Factor that I completely adored but it is off with the makeup fairies now. Sad.

A discovery thanks to Rachael Jade were Maybelline’s Smoochies. Bought from Priceline, they are reasonably priced but lacking in variety. I bought two our of the three available but sometime after Christmas I will probably buy the last one to complete the set. So far I’m enjoying them, they’re nice on my lips, add a little bit of tint and looks charming underneath the MNY sparkly lipgloss I also bought.

My recent move to the outer suburbs has been fantastic. Along side the birds singing is a wholesale makeup shop. Oh yes! They stock makeup that you can no longer purchase from regular makeup retailers. I found some little goodies that I am looking forward to trying. I grabbed a pack of Mary Kate and Ashley mattifying papers, basically it just helps to blot away any oil on your face. I’m not sure about their brand and how it ranks, but these will be very handy for my bag. I also picked up a blue tone eyeshadow pallet from Maybelline. Blue is one of those colours that I just haven’t gotten into, so we will give it a go. I’m thinking of a bit of a smokey eye may be calling from the pallet. I do have a navy blue mascara and now a navy eye pencil to add to my collection. Maybe that alongside the gold liquid liner could be some out there party look that I may not attempt… 😀

This has been over a couple of weeks and pretty much all of them were bought on sale minus the Smoochies. I’m testing them all out still to see what works for me but at the moment my MNY eyeshadow is definitely winning.

I do know that I am getting some pretty exciting stuff for Christmas, so no doubt, that will be up here soon.

Have a lovely Christmas every one! Spend time with your loved ones and eat lots of good food, if there is ever a time for it, it is now.

I know.. I’m sorry.. But look! Pretty things!

5 Dec
Hello hello!

I hope you all still love me even though I’ve been a horrible blogger

Life has been pretty crazy this last month with Perth, moving, unpacking, house stuff, wedding, work etc etc. The good news is, after our trip to ikea this coming weekend, things should hopefully settle down.

There are all types of things going on in my personal life that have been taking me on some seriously crazy emotional roller coasters. Saying that, I am very proud of how I have handled it. I definitely would not have been able to do it without the support of my absolutely 100% amazing fiancé and all my work friends and family. I say work friends, but they’re more than that. They are the only friends I have now and I’m happy to have them 🙂 okay, gross, I know.. Time for pretty things.

As you are aware from my last post and thanks to the selling skills of the Mecca store, I purchased Stilla’s ‘In the light’ palette of gorgeous neutral, sometimes shimmery, eyeshadows. (Ps. The book is also really interesting, FYI)

20131205-215253.jpg

It was $60 well spent. Every colour is gorgeous. I seem to be reaching for a couple more than others.

20131205-215716.jpg

Night Sky could possibly be my most favourite eyeshadow colour in the history of ever. Except this one colour I had and lost a couple of months ago (RIP The perfect burgundy eyeshadow). Night Sky has a gorgeous shimmer through it and is perfect for the outer corner of my eyelids. It is perfect for making a stunning smokey eye look with its silvery grey colour.

20131205-220219.jpg

Luster is as the name suggests. It is almost khaki brown in the pot but as soon as it glides effortlessly onto my skin it turns a beautiful brown with gold under notes and gold shimmer. Also great for the crease and outer corner. It starts from something almost transparent but with a few swipes is quite opaque. I also like to use just a swipe across my whole lid when it is one of my rushed kind of days with a few extra brushes in the corner and crease to add depth.

Bare and Bliss haven’t really been touched yet because I’m not quite sure how I should use them with my skin. Bare looks like it could be a good base colour or possibly something to highlight the inner corners of your eyes but I’m just not comfortable with it yet.

I also use Kitten as a highlighter for my brow bone, down my nose and on my Cupid’s bow. It is really very subtle when just a little bit is used.

Does anyone else have this pallet? What is your favourite colour combination?

Talk soon. Pinky swear.

I’ll be back soon

Promise!

Perth Kit and Mecca haul (and Elizabeth’s Bookstore)

5 Nov
Hello hello!

Last Friday James and I picked up our bags after having a somewhat eventful week of shifting house, illness, back problems and Chinese seafood buffets to fly over to the wonderful city of Perth.

Perth is stunning with green trees, blue water, white sand and crazy expensive tasty food. The city is like something from the 90’s.. But in a good way.

20131105-213154.jpg

Today James and I went into the city to have a bit of a wander. On Friday when we arrived James was so so sick and he has been recovering since. So today we got to have a stroll and a shop.

After what felt like a lifetime spent in Quality Comics, we wandered into Elizabeth’s Bookstore. This is a second hand book shop with a gigantic range of books. As soon as I walked in, this book was spotted.

20131105-210007.jpg

I’m a big Julia Child fan. After watching Julie and Julia however many years ago, I rediscovered Julia Child. She was an amazing cook who had skills not dissimilar to myself and became who she is today. She had strong determination and a heart of gold, she is a role model for me. I have all her cooking shows at home and am waiting for the day when I can afford the legendary cook books. I geeked out a little when I saw it.

Next was our trip to Kit Makeup. This was a random find. We were trying to navigate our way out of a small shopping mall and I noticed the bright colours of the Kit store. In Melbourne, I think we have Kit, but only in Myer. I’m thinking I may need to have a good look once I’m back.

20131105-210628.jpg

20131105-210643.jpg

I don’t know if you have ever smelt Soap & Glory’s ‘The Breakfast Scrub’ but it is like a mapley heaven. It is possible that the thought of eating this scrub came to mind. It makes me crave pancakes just thinking about it.

I also picked up Soap & Glory’s ‘Hand Food’. I tested this while I waited for James to come out of EB Games. It claims to be non-greasy and I fully agree. It feels like water when you put it on and rubs in easily. My hands soaked it up and felt so soft afterwards. This little bottle was only $5.95 and was a total bargain. I might picked up their antiseptic next time.

Onwards through the alleys of Perth and then down Hay street, I spotted Mecca Cosmetics. I couldn’t find a lip scrub at Kit and was told Mecca was the place to go. And so I did..

20131105-212207.jpg

20131105-212219.jpg

First I picked up the lip scrub which I’m hoping to try tomorrow and then I picked up Stilla’s ‘In The Light’ pallet. It consists of mainly shimmery natural colours and their famous ‘Kitten’ colour which I am excited to use. Also, I’m really looking forward to the Night Sky shade as well. I love this pallet already and I haven’t even dipped my brush into it.

So that was all for today. I had some op shop bargains yesterday but for now, I am completely exhausted.

Good night!

My style my way.. A thought.

24 Oct
Hello hello,

I have never really been aware of what being fashionable was until these last few years. Mainly in these last 6 months I have been trying dot really define what being fashionable meant. People keep commenting that I have been changing in the way I wear my clothes, makeup, jewellery and hair.

I made a conscious decision when I turned 22 that it was time to mature my wardrobe a little bit more, to match in with me and my lifestyle. I am quite a colourful person (both in personality and wardrobe), so I have kept a pop of colour but I wear a lot more pastels, blush pinks and marooney colours. I also noticed I am starting a fair collection of greens and reds as well.

I think I have finally defined what fashion is, for me anyway.. It is basically style. It’s about keeping up to date, not with what is trending, but with yourself. My tastes have changed, matured and my style has moved with it. I’m at a stage in my life where I don’t feel the need to please everyone around me. I want to feel happy within myself and I want to be comfortable in my own skin.

I love makeup and clothes not because they are what girls are expected to love, but because I enjoy how they make me feel. I like to add a little bit of extra colour or to feel a little bit fancier. The world is always so serious and people so negative and I think that if I can enhance my own mood by adding some sparkle to myself then that is okay by me.

I love learning from all the amazing people out there what suits who and what colour goes where but I take them as a guide and if need, alter it to how I like it,

It is important to take pride in yourself and to not be afraid to try new things and new ideas. What is important to you?

Update!

21 Oct
Hello hello!

An update.. I’ve been very super busy as of late and am moving into my new house in under a week. I also have 3 assignments due within this next week. Plus I’m working and packing like crazy. Oh and I will be getting on a plane in two weeks to Perth for my best friends wedding!

I think what I might do is write a couple of draft posts up and will post them when I get the chance 🙂

I dyed my hair last Friday in preparation of best friends wedding. What do you think?

Okay, well time for more packing!

Whisper Review

14 Oct
Hello hello!

I am here! .. If any of you were wondering.

It’s been a crazy crazy week. In fact, it has been a crazy huge year. I can’t believe what has happened, it honestly blows my mind.

Last week, James didn’t go grocery shopping with me. Our supermarket is next door to Kmart. Without James I have no one to stop me from my temptations to acquire more stuff. So, I blame this review on James. Thank you sweet heart.

Maybelline claim the new Colour Whisper has..

Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel.
No heavy waxes or oils.
Soft, sexy gel-color.

I have colour 45 – Who Wore it Red-er

20131016-074117.jpg

I find that it feels very similar to a balm but have found that within a half hour it dries and feels slightly uncomfortable. It’s a pity because I love love love the colour!
My lips are naturally quite red and as such, this colour really just adds that bit of extra oomph my lips need. I only use one coat and find that it is more than enough, it is fairly opaque.
With a quick coat of my Maybelline Baby Lips Color in Berry Crush it last a fair few hours before I need to reapply.

I may need to check out a few more colours. This has been my go to lip colour for the past week and a half.

This is not beauty.

This.

I admire the strength of any woman that can do that on a pole, but honestly. This is 3 minutes 16 seconds of my life I want back.

All the years of fighting for men to appreciate woman as beautiful people and not pieces of meat.

This is not beauty. This is disgraceful.
